How to use /MAXMEM in Windows 2008 as boot.ini is gone ?

For load testing a.e. scalability testing scenarios I had very often the need to ramp up the RAM configuration of the server without physically install/remove memory dimm’s 🙂 In 2003 and earlier I had used the /MAXMEM= boot.ini switch.

In Windows 2008 and higher the boot.ini is replaced with bcd store (bcdedit) but this is now an configurable option in the msconfig GUI.

start –> run –> msconfig.exe –> BOOT –> ADVANCED OPTIONS

JFYI 🙂
